The health education team works to improve the health literacy of patients and community members through its outreach activities, health education programs, health fairs, and media education campaigns. The team aims to improve health literacy by increasing access to quality health care information and, in turn, improving the ability of patients and community members to use that information for better health outcomes. Health educators collaborate with clinical staff and community partners to: conduct health education workshops in the community, produce and disseminate health education brochures, publish newspaper articles, host monthly radio programs, convene regular press briefings on emerging health care issues, and conduct disease prevention and health promotion projects. They also provide high quality, culturally appropriate translation services.
