Women's Health Symposium: Today's Healthcare for a Better Tomorrow
is designed to help community healthcare providers learn more about issues affecting Asian American women living in New York City. This year's symposium will cover health issues from the young to the young at heart. Topics include the introduction of March of Dimes' Consumer Genetic Education Network Project; the integration of Eastern and Western medicines; resources for the elderly and teenage obesity. There will also be panel focusing on teenage social and mental health issues.
In our ongoing effort to represent the health concerns of Asian American populations such as Chinese, Korean, South Asian, Filipinos, Vietnamese and others, we have identified speakers whose outreach efforts within a particular community has reached success. We hope their shared insight will inspire a lively dialogue on how we can continue to build on maximizing the health care of Asian Americans.
We invite health care professionals, health educators, social service providers, students and individuals from the community to attend this symposium. In addition, we encourage everyone to bring their business cards, as we will provide the opportunity for networking.

Following the conclusion of this symposium, participants will have:
- An increased awareness of health issues that affect Asian American women, as well as health issues that are more prominent in one population versus another;
- To achieve a better understanding of the mindset of Asian American women when dealing with issues affecting their physical/mental well being;
- Feedback as to what methods and techniques worked or didn't work in a women's road to wellness.
